The risk is accepting only the final cut while ignoring intermediate stages, making later problems impossible to trace. The criterion is that every stage has sign-off; if any stage is not confirmed, later revision costs will rise. The exception is when the project timeline is too tight for item-by-item acceptance; in that case, at minimum conduct a full review of the final cut and master, and keep records of any changes.
Scope of Application and Limitations
This method is suitable for TVC commercials where the product has distinct visual features or functional selling points, particularly fast-moving consumer goods, electronics, automobiles, and fashion brands. If the product is an intangible service or conceptual offering—such as finance, education, or enterprise services—the first-appearance memory point must be converted into symbols or scenarios, requiring adjustments to the method.
Cases where it does not apply include: first, the product is still in R&D with no physical unit, only design drawings or renderings, making it impossible to capture real texture and requiring reliance on CGI or AIGC—though the memory-point design principles still apply. Second, the product has complex functions that require demonstration, so the first appearance cannot show only the exterior and must be combined with usage scenarios; in this case, the function demonstration should become part of the memory point.
Third, the budget or timeline is too tight for adequate testing and multiple revisions; we recommend simplifying the plan and using the safest shot design, such as a centered product close-up with background blur, while avoiding complex movement and high-risk effects. Fourth, the product itself lacks recognizability—for example, a plain white unlabeled package—requiring additional visual symbols or props to aid memorability.
For CGI or AIGC production, the memory-point design must be locked during the 3D modeling and rendering stage, including materials, lighting, and camera animation. In post-production compositing, pay close attention to matching the lighting and shadows between the product and live-action footage, or the result will look artificial. During acceptance, the brand must provide high-precision models or scan data of the product and confirm that the rendered result matches the physical item.
